There has never been a more important time for businesses and consumers to begin evaluating the impact that they have on our environment. The sustainability and environmental impact of our products has been a significant focus of our over the past few years, and we are actively aiming to be as sustainable as possible.

Faux Fur & Synthetic Fabrics

There is no getting away from the fact we we use a lot of synthetic materials in our products. Everything from our faux fur to our imitation suede and luxe velvet is composed of either polyester, or acrylic/modacrylic fibres. We like to be up-front about that. Although some argue that these types of materials, or products made from them, simply cannot be considered sustainable by any measure, there is a lot more to it than what you see at first glance.

Responsible Manufacturing

Many of our faux fur fabrics feature modacrylic Kanecron fibres. Sourced from Japan, the manufacturing of these fibres is closely monitored to ensure that the highest standards of quality are reached.

Our faux furs are guaranteed to be free from harmful chemicals, all carrying Oekotex Certificates against the raw materials.

Longevity

More than anything we select the faux fur and cloth used in our products to high standards of quality and longevity. Combined with our meticulous workmanship, Katrina Hampton products are made to last.

There are customers using Katrina Hampton throws in their homes today that they purchased over a decade ago and, properly cared for, we have no doubt that they will last even longer. A true reflection of the work that has gone into ensuring the longevity of the pile and fibres.

Maintenance

Maintenance of our faux fur is a breeze. It does not require regular cleaning, and wiping down with a damp cloth will usually suffice. This helps to avoid releasing synthetic particles into environment during machine wash cycles.

Function and Form

Our products are not merely decorative, but also functional. We select faux fur with thicker, more dense fibres than many other brands manufacturing similar products. Heat is trapped more efficiently, and draped in our faux fur you feel warmer than in cheaper, mass-produced alternatives.

Shetland Wool

A growing range of products are made from Shetland wool – locally and ethically farmed and locally woven. Currently our range includes cozy wool blankets and luxurious feather-filled cushions, and we have some exciting new prospects currently in development.

Locally Manufactured

Our suppliers are all local from the very moment that our fabric lands with us. Everything from our cartons and packaging to our labels, cushions and bean bag filling are all sourced within 25 miles of our warehouse.

As well as supporting the local economy, we minimise the amount of time that any of our raw materials spend on the road.

We are currently investigating eco-friendly packaging for all of our products, and we hope to make significant progress on that in the year ahead.

Full Circle

Knowing the history and sustainability of our fabrics enables us to have confidence in the durability and ethical status of our products. They have insulating properties, a natural touch, are easy to care for and can confidently be sold as Vegan.
